National Recovery Month: Unite, Educate, Celebrate

Published by Mike Beltowsky

Each September, communities across the United States come together to celebarate National Recovery Month—an annual observance that celebrates the unmatched power of recovery. For over three decades, this month-long initiative has championed the cause of millions who have turned their lives around from mental and substance use disorders. Its primary goal is not only to laud the achievements of individuals who have reclaimed their lives in recovery but also to bring attention to the benefits of receiving professional treatment and support. Through diverse events, educational seminars, and community gatherings, National Recovery Month spreads the vital message that recovery in all its forms is possible, and that healing and hope await those who seek it.

At its core, National Recovery Month serves as a testament to the fact that mental and substance use disorders are nothing to be ashamed of and that seeking help is a sign of strength. It’s a month of educating Americans, fostering understanding, and strengthening community ties. It’s about breaking the barriers of stigma, opening dialogues, and reinforcing the belief that a fulfilling life post-treatment is not just a distant dream but a tangible reality for many.

Gateway Recovery Center is thrilled to join hands with countless organizations and communities in celebrating National Recovery Month. Here’s what we have lined up for this pivotal month:

  • Xylazine: The Growing Threat of Toxic Adulterants: Friday, September 15th (Hybrid)
